Health Policy

Word of Life Youth Camp is proactively taking measures, as per our usual practice, to ensure the well-being and safety of all of the campers that are trusted to our care. We have adopted the following measures:

  • Screening campers for influenza-like symptoms before they enter the camp.

  • Placing handwashing facilities and alcohol-based sanitizer at multiple sites around camps.

  • Setting up designated health care areas to isolate sick campers from others.

  • Keeping campers an arm's length away from one another while sleeping, and placing campers head to foot in bunk beds or tents.

  • Monitoring campers for symptoms of influenza-like illness, and asking staff to teach and model good infection control behaviour to campers.

  • Notifying public health officials if there is a cluster of campers with influenza-like illness.

In addition, all campers are checked for head-lice before being admitted to camp.

Our goal is to provide the best camping experience possible for every camper, and will continue to make decisions that place the needs of the camper first. If you have any questions about these standards, please email me at TylerO@wol.ca

Sincerely,

Tyler Oldrieve
Camp Director – Word of Life Youth Camp
