Leah Doermer grew up in a Christian home in Ottawa, Ontario. She placed her trust in Jesus Christ as her Saviour at the age of 5. Leah lived with her family in Germany for three years. Following a time of being a Christian in name only, Leah recommitted her life to Christ after reading through the Bible and through the influence and prayers of friends and family. She committed herself to obedience to whatever the Lord had for her life. Through attending powerful missions conferences at her church, talking to missionaries and friends, and reading the Bible, Leah realized that she had a great burden for the lost. It was then that she went to a meeting hosted by the Word of Life Bible Institute (WOLBI) in Owen Sound. Leah attended WOLBI in 2012-2013. It was during that time that reaching Canada’s youth started burdening her heart, and she made the decision to join the staff of Word of Life as the Bible Institute’s Academic Secretary.
Leah is encouraged by Jeremiah’s call, “Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, before you were born I set you apart; I appointed you as a prophet to the nations.” Jeremiah 5:1.
